Frequently Asked Questions

  • This is definitely our most commonly asked question! Our prices range from $1650-$2450. How do we determine pricing? Well, we breed for temperament AND color, with our priority being temperament. Because we consistently produce well balanced temperaments across all breeds, our colors depict pricing. We take great pride in having patterns that are "harder to find" or "not as common", because even that is a reflection of OUR dedication in doing this well. So, in summary, solid colors, patterns, hair coat, & size all reflect on our pricing.

  • In short, no. Your puppy has, however, been introduced to crating, slept in a crate, and is familiar with the concept.

  • Litter box training is a delightful concept that enlightens your puppy on how to be clean. It starts the process of thinking about potty behaviors rather than just feeling the urge and going. I do not feel it is necessary for you to continue litter box use at home, but frequent outside trips and a favorite command will have your pup quickly connecting the dots.

  • We have constant & direct access for Loyall life puppy food, which contains no corn, soy, or wheat fillers. This means, in addition to no useless ingredients, there’s less poop, which is always a win! We have found that the food is really expensive OR hard to find, so our 2nd choice would be Diamond Naturals or 4Health - all 3 foods are super similar and lack the same fillers.

  • Your puppy should be fed 2 times a day, a free amount. It is often a misconception that one amount of food fits all, so until 16-18 weeks, I recommend offering a free AMOUNT twice daily. Leave the food available for 30-45 min and then take it up. More regulated amounts become appropriate when the growth slows.

  • Your puppy is small at take home and should have a bed that is an appropriate size. Much like how silly it would be to get a toddler a queen-sized bed, your pup will be overwhelmed with a huge space. I generally recommend 22-24” crates for beginning.

  • Eh, not really. Your puppy has had one round of veterinary administered vaccines and needs 4 to be considered fully vaccinated. Your babe is still very much at risk and should be protected. Familiar, safe areas without lots of foot traffic (regardless of species) are recommended until your vaccine series is completed.

  • In short, probably. Why? Because genetics are a funny thing. Doods & dolls does genetic testing to be sure the parents carry minimal to non-shedding genes, but there’s always a possibility of seasonal shedding, coat change shedding, and even puppy to adulthood shedding. That means that while your pup’s shedding may be MUCH less than other “do shed” breeds, you may at times find hairballs floating under the sofa or brush a hair bunny out of your pup’s fur after a bath.

  • It’s always possible! We do have many allergen families as part of Doods & Dolls, and have had great success, however, depending on the severity of your allergy, what in particular you’re allergic to, and your dog’s hair type, you may experience some allergen triggers. In doodles where one parent breed is shorthaired, like labradoodles, the best generation to start with is an F1b. I do often find that for mild allergies, the F1 bernedoodles are also a success. If you’re local, you’re always welcome to meet the doods and see how you or your family member react!
